Helping us to help you

We understand the challenges that can sometimes be faced by international students accessing Higher Education for the first time in the UK.  All UPA member institutions are therefore experienced and fully committed to offering a high level of support to students on their pathway courses.  As a student on one of our courses you can expect to benefit from the services and support offered to all university students, which may include:

  • A dedicated Academic Personal Tutor* with whom you will meet on a one-to-one basis at least three times during the year

  • Trained staff with a responsibility for overseeing student welfare

  • Access to specialist support via University Student Support and Well Being services

  • Good links with local health services via the National Health Service (NHS)

  • Regular attendance and engagement monitoring

  • Access to student societies and clubs via the Student’s Union

  • Access to student mentor and/or student buddy schemes in which you will be able to meet a current or previous student to help you settle into university or for help with your studies

*Please note, Personal tutors are sometimes referred to by another name, i.e. Academic Advisers
